Q: WHERE DOES THE NAME COME FROM?

A: The name is inspired by the Australian Lyrebird, the world’s greatest mimic, and you can find our mascot, Horatio, wearing a top hat on the necks of our bottles. The Lyrebird can mimic other birdsong, all kinds of sounds, even the ring of a mobile phone. We believe our range is the world’s most successful that pay homage to the classic flavours & style of spirits, in a non-alcoholic version. So, we take our inspiration from the Lyrebird in the brand and we dubbed our spirits ‘Lyre’s’

A: Lyre’s tastes just like the style of the classic spirit that we are paying a homage to. By taking the time to identify the distinct aromas, tastes and visual appearance you find across each style, we have been able to source the best all-natural essences, extracts and distillates from around the globe and blend them to match our own flavour architecture. Q: WATER - HOW CAN I MAINTAIN MAXIMUM FLAVOUR OF MY DRINK?

A: Our aim at Lyre’s is to pay ultimate respect to the flavours of the classics, and Lyre’s really comes to life when mixing, stirring or shaking. However given that our beverages are alcohol-free, we recommend taking steps to reduce the dilution of the spirit in the drink you’re making.  A few handy tips are if you’re making cocktails, shake or stir, only to chill, rather than dilute.  Where possible, pre-freeze your glass or use high-quality, slow melting large & hard ice.

The recipes that we feature were developed by our experienced, professional mixologists and showcase the Lyre’s product in the best proportions to deliver the closest possible match to a mixed original.

Q: PRICE

A: Lyre’s is a premium product that took many years to perfect, drawing from a library of ingredients with 39 different countries of origin and extensive development.  Our range has been crafted for sophisticated, adult tastes and required the mastery of a sommelier to develop the flavour architecture.  Our price reflects the cost of this significant development work as well as the cost to procure and manufacture the beverages.

Q: IS LYRE’S 100% ALCOHOL FREE?

A: The Lyre’s range is classified as non-alcoholic, meaning they contain 0.5% ABV (Alcohol By Volume) or less. Lyre’s is like many beverages – orange juice or kombucha for example, in that it contains trace amounts of alcohol. You’ll even find similar levels (or higher) amounts of alcohol in foods like bread or ripe fruit. True story!

Lyre’s doesn’t claim 0.0% ABV, but instead claims that it is non-alcoholic spirit, given the ultra-low volumes of trace alcohol in our beverage (less than 0.5% ABV). We note non-alcoholic beverage classification can vary from country to country, but legislation typically falls between a maximum alcohol content of 0.5% ABV and 1.2% ABV to be considered a non-alcoholic beverage. We do know that some online resellers are advertising our range, as well as other non-alcoholic spirits as 0.0% ABV, which is incorrect. Please let us know if you come across this.

Q: HOW DO I STORE LYRE’S?

A: Always reseal with original cap after opening. Do not leave bottle open or replace cap with pourer. Once open, best refrigerated for optimum freshness. Recommended to be consumed within 12 weeks of opening. Do not leave out in the cold. Risk of freezing.

Q: MY LIQUID ISN'T COMPLETELY CLEAR?

A: Because Lyre’s doesn’t use alcohol as a preservative, we use natural essences and ingredients, this can happen from time to time. It is a result of the very fine natural flavour components bonding together (Much like sediment in wine.) Your drink is completely fresh to drink and the flavour still as magnificent as ever. Hot tip: shake vigorously to disperse any bonds’ and see if that doesn’t fix your bevoir. Refrigeration after opening will ensure this is less likely to occur. Reach out to us at customer service to discuss further should you like to explore a replacement.

Q: Caffeine Levels?

A: Our Coffee Originale contains 28.6 mg per 100ml. That is equal to 8.6mg per 30ml serving.

Q: IS LYRE'S VEGAN?

A: Absolutely. The only animals featured here are our beloved social animals depicted on our labels. We use all-natural, plant derived essences, extracts and distillates that deliver bouquet and flavour throughout our range. We recommend reading the individual product pages for more specific information in relation to ingredients.

Q: Does the Allura Red Colour E129 meet the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)?

A:  Because Lyre’s does not contain the natural protection that a 40% alcohol content would typically afford alcoholic spirits, we do need to use a preservative. In our RTD range we use Sodium Benzoate, the first preservative allowed in foods by the FDA and also one of the most common used food additives. We think it’s important to note that you’ll find it commonly used in most Soda, bottled lemon juices, salad dressings and many other condiments to remain shelf-stable alcoholic spirits, we do need to use a preservative. Q: Is Lyre's 100% Natural?

A: Across our entire range we exclusively use all-natural flavours. These are globally-sourced essences, extracts and distillates, expertly selected and blended to make what we believe are the best non-alcoholic versions of classic spirits, simply without alcohol.

We also have all natural colours across the majority of the range.  These include Dry London, American Malt, Aperitif Dry, Aperitif Rosso, Amaretti, Coffee Originale, Orange Sec, Dark Cane, Spiced Cane, White Cane.

Three of our variants; Italian Spritz, Italian Orange and Absinthe contain certified colours that meet the safety standards of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).  We think it’s important for our customers to know that these are the exactly the same colourants that are used in the alcoholic originals that we’re paying homage to.  We continue to work on developing all natural colours for these three variants – we’re confident that we’ll get there and we’ll be sure to let you know when we do.

Lastly, because Lyre’s does not contain the natural protection that a 40% alcohol content would typically afford alcoholic spirits, we do need to use a preservative.  The Lyre’s range uses Potassium Sorbate – a salt, and one of the most widely used preservatives in the world.  We think it’s important that you know that every single non-alcoholic spirit on the market uses potassium sorbate too to remain shelf-stable.  The Lyre’s team is working hard on developing an all-natural replacement for this also.

Being 100% natural is very important to us and we won’t stop working until we get there.

Q: IF LYRE’S HAS NO ALCOHOL CAN MINORS DRINK IT?

A: Lyre’s is a product designed for the enjoyment of adult tastes. The product has been created for people of legal drinking age looking for a sophisticated non-alcohol alternative. While it may technically cause no harm, Lyre’s in no way endorses or encourages consumption of our product by anyone who is not of legal drinking age.

Q: IS LYRE’S ANTI-ALCOHOL?

A: Lyre’s is in no way against alcohol. We do see a trend towards mindful drinking. Our approach has been to pay homage to the time-tested classics that make up the traditional alcohol category. We have just seen that there are times and occasions when you can’t enjoy these classic flavours and have to break the taste. By switching to a Lyre’s, or perhaps mixing your lyre’s with alcohol, you can still enjoy the taste that has made these styles so popular, but you can manage the other factors that lead you to a non-alcohol/low alcohol choice.

We do believe that we can play a role by removing the stigma of not drinking that occurs with the obvious switch to a traditional non-alcohol beverage solution, especially in confronting social situations. By simply taking a drink and making it a Lyre’s, we can help by offering a degree of social camouflage, in that you can enjoy the same drink, served the same way with the same tastes, it just is a non-alcohol version, empowering you to drink freely.
